Fire & Ice Facial: Why It's Known as the Red Carpet Facial

Fire & Ice Facials are popular among the rich and famous, so much so that it’s the top-selling treatment at the Four Seasons in Beverley Hills. It’s a not-so-secret weapon used by everyone from Halle Berry to Michelle Keegan, and it could be the key to your skin transformation.

It might be known as the red carpet facial, but that doesn’t mean only celebrities can get it. At Aurora Beauty Aesthetics, we offer the Fire & Ice Facial in Barnsley, performed by skincare and treatment experts and led by me, an Independent Nurse Prescriber with over 20 years of experience.

What Is A Fire & Ice Facial?

A Fire & Ice Facial is designed to rapidly resurface the skin using a combination of techniques. Cryotherapy and thermotherapy are used one after the other to provide a treatment that leaves your skin feeling invigorated and refreshed. This clever combination approach helps to improve circulation and reduce any fluid stagnation, as well as providing a deep clean.

The glowing skin treatment uses natural ingredients alongside pharmaceutical-grade formulas to achieve results like a chemical peel. It can be used to:

  • Reduce fine lines

  • Smooth skin

  • Encourage cell renewal

A Fire & Ice Facial can be added to a skincare routine to help maintain the refreshed, glowing look, or it can be used as a one-off event facial. Often used by big stars just before they hit the red carpet, Fire & Ice Facials are a great choice when it comes to prepping the skin for a special event.

Phase One: Fire

The first step in the iS Clinical Fire & Ice treatment is the “fire” phase. This involves using an intensive resurfacing masque that is professionally applied to the skin. The heat-activated mask is powered by glycolic acid, vitamin A derivatives, niacinamide, and retinoids.

These ingredients work to refine the pores, loosen any buildup, and smooth the skin. While it’s working, patients will feel a gentle warming across the treatment area.

Phase Two: Ice

The second step is the rejuvenation masque, or the “ice” phase. A cooling gel is applied to the treatment area. The gel is rich with soothing botanicals like liquorice, green tea, and aloe vera. These natural ingredients allow it to refresh, calm, and hydrate the skin.

The exact cocktail of ingredients used may vary from person to person, as the iS Clinical Fire & Ice Treatment allows for a bespoke combination of products to be used in combination with the masques. This allows us to treat your skin type and concerns, rather than using a one-size-fits-all treatment.

Benefits of The Fire & Ice Facial

The Fire & Ice Facial has a number of benefits that make it a popular choice for skin rejuvenation in Barnsley.

Benefits of this two-step event facial include:

  • Expertly hydrates the skin

  • Restores the skin’s glow

  • Polishes and smooths skin texture

  • Exfoliates without residual peeling

  • Provides red carpet results with minimal downtime

  • Increases circulation

  • Unclogs congested pores

  • Helps to tackle large pores

Allowing us to alter the treatment to best suit your goals and skin type is also a huge benefit of the iS Clinical Fire & Ice Facial. Bespoke treatments are always a great way to ensure you’re actually tackling your skin issues, rather than just hoping a broad approach will resolve them.

Who Can Have The Fire & Ice Facial?

Plenty of facials and skincare treatments are only suitable for specific skin types, or aren’t an option for anyone pregnant. The iS Clinical Fire & Ice treatment breaks the mould. It’s truly suitable for every skin type, every skin tone, and even pregnant people can enjoy the treatment and its effects, so long as it is prepared with them in mind.

The facial is milder than a lot of treatment options, relying on soothing botanical ingredients in combination with pharmaceuticals. Patients with rosacea may feel a slightly more intense tingle than other patients, and should discuss their condition with the clinicians prior to treatment.

There are a few people who may not be able to have the treatment; if you have:

  • An adverse reaction to glycolic acid

  • Had recent facial surgery

  • Taken Roaccutane in the last 6 months

  • Been taking a high dose B5 supplement

  • An autoimmune disease

  • Been receiving chemotherapy or radiotherapy

  • Sunburn

Then you may not be suitable for the Fire & Ice Facial. There are other skin treatments available, so reach out to discuss your options for skin rejuvenation.

How To Make The Most of a Fire & Ice Facial

After you’ve had a Fire & Ice Facial, you may be wondering how you can maintain that effortless glow. The answer is simple: include the facial in your regular skincare. It may be known as an event facial, but that doesn’t mean it has to be solely for those big moments in our lives.

One way to help maintain the glow achieved by the skin rejuvenation treatment is to pair it with regular peels. Consistency is the best way to achieve any skincare goal.

The Fire & Ice treatment provides immediate benefits, so pairing it with a treatment that supports longer-term skin rejuvenation like a peel is a good way to maintain your smooth, red carpet ready skin. To find out more about skin peels in Barnsley, contact us today.

Questions our patients ask before starting treatment with us:

Does the Fire & Ice facial hurt?

The iS Clinical Fire & Ice Facial is designed to be a gentle treatment that doesn’t hurt. It is comfortable for the patient, with only a warm and tingling sensation during the fire masque and a cooling sensation during the ice masque.

Unlike a peel, your skin is not peeling or flaking, so there is not much to feel as the treatment takes place, except for the gels placed on the skin. This makes it a great option for even those with sensitive skin.

Is there any downtime?

One of the biggest benefits of the Fire & Ice Facial is that there’s no downtime. Unlike more intense treatments, you can continue as normal following your iS Clinical Fire & Ice Facial. You may experience a gentle redness straight after the facial, but this will pass. You will notice immediate results. Your skin should be glowing and smooth as soon as the facial is done.

There are, however, a few instructions for post-facial care:

  • Wear SPF for a month

  • Avoid direct sunlight for one day

  • Avoid heat and heavy exercise for 12 hours

  • No at-home exfoliation for one week

  • Avoid active products for 2 to 3 days

  • No waxing or laser for one week

How often can I have a Fire & Ice Facial?

Fire & Ice Facials can be done when your skin renews. Typically, this is every 4 to 6 weeks. Receiving the treatment this frequently will help to keep your skin texture smooth and radiant.

For patients with acne-prone skin, it is sometimes advised to have a Fire & Ice Facial every 3 to 4  weeks instead.

If you have an event coming up, the scheduling of your skin rejuvenation in Barnsley can be tweaked to fit your schedule.

Should I have a Fire & Ice Facial before my wedding or my holiday?

The Fire & Ice Facial is ideal for those with weddings and holidays coming up. With minimal downtime and immediate results, it’s a great way to achieve the glowing skin you want for all your photos.

If you have an event coming up, we recommend booking your Fire & Ice Facial for 3 to 5 days before. This will allow any redness to completely pass. Likewise, if you are going on holiday, this time frame will allow your skin time to recover before you subject it to any sunshine.

Is a Fire & Ice Facial suitable for sensitive skin?

The iS Clinical Fire & Ice Treatment is considered to be suitable for all skin types.  However, some patients with sensitive skin may want to discuss this with their clinicians before booking their treatment.
